Perfect.

Especially impressive that in both this and your 5-7-5 haiku, the final line forms a present state derived from the combination of the two preceding lines.

This is how a haiku should work -- and this is also where the majority of haikus often fail. I've never written a haiku (except as a homework assignment in the 6th grade), and doubt that I'd be able to bring it off.
