Thanks to Michael Pendragon, this dark and evocative poem from the late Ahmos Zu-Bolton has come to light. It is without a doubt the best poem that Zu-Bolton ever wrote, and we are in awe.

AROMATICS

Will Dockery smelled good for a donkey
Though his ears were like those of a monkey
Still he wasn't particularly skunky
Just a little funky for a honky.

Will didn't smell bad for a bum, he
Didn't offend though his clothes were quite crummy
When he smiled, his teeth looked a bit scummy
It's too bad that he was such a dummy.

Will smelled pretty good for an ass
Though when sitting in Dan Barfly's class
I struck quite a pose
With my had to my nose
What a shame Dan didn't let that boy pass.

Will didn't stink though he lived in a shed
Where he slept on old rags for a bed
He'd a brother named Dave
But neglected to save
Dave when Zod bashed him over the head.

Now that Zod has a terrible smell
That we Georgia folk knows all too well
He's a toothless old twink
Who the locals call Stink
Cause his odor is six shades of Hell.

But let it not be misunderstood
That Will Dockery smelled pretty darn good
For a jackass, that is
Cause that odor of his
Was enough to disintegrate wood.

We have heard that Harry Styles has expressed interest in setting this poem to music. Celine Dion wants to do the French version for Canadian radio. There may be a perfume called Eau de Baudet.

This stanza brings out the disparity between the clean, sweet-smelling white people and the funky, skunky odor of shed-dwellers. Zu-Bolton is making an important point.

Zu-Bolton is using his urban imagination because Will doesn't have any teeth. He is, however, a dummy.

The odor of mountain man outside for 5 years mingled with bear dung.

We see the multiple ways that Zu-Bolton has used the word "wood" here. Will would if he could, had no wood, and what wood he had was flaccid. We have heard that folks in the deep south identify each other by odor. However, that's a different poem of Zu-Bolton's. "The Odor of Freeloaders"

It's a great poem, but unfortunately Zu-Bolton left Columbus in a hurry one night (covered with a blanket in the back seat of Barfly's car), so his name was not put forth for Perkiness. Details are murky.
