I Make Things Up

I'm a narcissist,
the original 'great pretender'
dependent on ridicule,
allowing me to remain
leader of lies
which, for me, means power.

I depend
on 'setting the record straight',
welcoming all that is thrown my way,
keeping the fire alive,
fiction being the backbone
of my life.

Ignorance became the parents
of narcissism, rationality disappears
for lying is easier used in a complex world
where pure thought is impossible
to juggle.

I'm a narcissist,
a liar, a twister of fact --
it keeps me on the front lines.

If you read me, I'm lying,
if you respond, it's the transfusion
I need to survive.
