We walked each other home,
singing some old doo-wop
between beer burps.

"I suppose you think you'll have
your way with me", her tobacco tongue
rambled."

"No, my dear, just want to show you
some of my sonnets", my tobacco tongue
responded.

"You mean etchings?"

"Yes, that's right, my etchings."

"OK, but remember, no funny stuff."

Funny was far from thought.

The key found the lock.

"May I use the toilet?"

"Down the hall, first door
on the right."

The wait began and ended
with my knock on the door.

"You ok in there?"

I peeked in to find her fast asleep
on the throne.

I gave my cat a pat
as I tried to teach her
'In the Still of the Night."

Edward Rochester Esq.
