It's done as a comedy. I could remember enough about it to see that it was
partly fiction. It's on ITVX. There's about 20 minutes of adverts in each
episode. I was disappointed in Series 3 episode 1 of Happy Valley.

Ah, do the online versions of programmes tend to have more adverts than the
broadcast versions? The broadcast version was the standard 47-48 minutes for
a 1-hour slot, so about 12-13 minutes of adverts.

It's a great shame that there isn't a Get-ITV and Get-CH4, in the same way
as Get-iPlayer (for BBC programmes) so you can download the programmes, edit
out the adverts and watch a clean programme. But the advertisers would not
be happy at that :-( When linear TV eventually ends, we are doomed to be
faced with adverts that we have no way of skipping over - it will be like
the days before video recorders :-( And no doubt crap players which pop up a
huge static promotion/advert still image if you pause to examine the credits
etc.

One of the great joys od Virgin360 is that you can tell it to forward 4/5
minutes if recorded. That usually works for the adverts (4 mins for most
and 5 minutes for the last one)

The problem, though, is that you cannot whizz through the ads. They play
out in real time.

You can do something similar with most older recorders, and especially
with Sky+.

The programmes I've watched on online catchup seem to have only 2
minutes of ads instead of the broadcast 4 minutes, and the same number
of slots as broadcast.

I use get-iplayer-automator on my Mac, which can supposedly still
download ITV programmes (but unlike BBC programmes, you have to find
them yourself on the ITV website first). But I don't watch anything on
ITV, so can't confirm how well it works.

Oh yes... the bumpers will be part of the master recording.

I had noticed (on "Litvinenko") that the ad breaks were shorter than
they probably would have been on ITV1.

But hey... it's harder to avoid the breaks on ITVX than on ITV1!

You can do the same thing with Humax recorders. You can chose the forward
duration.

The precise subject was the online (ie, streamed) versions.

A broadcast version may be recorded on a PVR of some sort and the
adverts run at high speed.
