IIt really ticks me off that pages carrying the program for download do
not include the info as to which ver. of Windows their download works
with.

I can't even find the info on the https://www.veracrypt.fr/code/VeraCrypt/ site.

Under the changes listed for version 1.0f-1 it says

"For Windows XP, correct the installer graphical artefacts."

which would suggest that version 1.0f-1 supports WindowsXP.

I've been using VC 1.19 with XP for almost two weeks. The other day
all my hc volumes froze up. All of the 3 volumes I created on 3
different drives went south and would not load. This never has
happened over the many years of my using TrueCrypt volumes. Luckily, I
kept all of my TC volumes just in case something like this did happen.

I ain't blaming VeraCrypt fully. It might work fine on other XP
machines, but maybe something, some piece of software on my machine,
just didn't jibe with VeraCrypt. So, it's back to TC. TC still hasn't been
compromised by the bad guys. Don't start with the "hibernation" or
"RAM memory" stuff. VeraCrypt has the same problem if the bad guys get
their hands on a still running machine after it used VC. The author of VC
has admitted to such in Wilder's VC forum.
