Let us know why and what are your thoughts about Qubes OS?

All this security b.s. for the average user is just that - BS. All it
does is increase paranoia in the user who begins to ceaselessly dump
one "secure" method after the other in search of "complete and
ultimate security." And the Big Boy AV & "Security" producers are
doing little else but playing constant catchup with the Big Bad Boys.

Users of that costly crapware give up the relaxation and amusement
that the Internet is capable of delivering. They turn into that dog
which constantly is chasing its own tail. Users have to learn how to
relax and let loose of the rampant paranoia surrounding 'Internet
Security'.

In other words...

Use a simple damn firewall to keep troublesome programs from calling
home for updates or upgrades which cost $$.The average user has to
ignore all the tcp, port, etc., etc. "allowing/blocking" nonsense. The
average lunkhead such as myself doesn't have a clue about such stuff
anyway - and doesn't give a damn about learning it.

For instance...

I use the ultra simple AVS freebie firewall to keep programs from
calling home or accessing the Internet if there is no reason for them
doing so.

Operating system:Windows XP/Vista/7/8/10
https://en.freedownloadmanager.org/Windows-PC/AVS-Firewall-FREE.html

Use a simple freebie sandbox like Time Freeze instead of all that
expensive and intrusive AV/security suite junk which drives you nuts
with "ALERTS", insisting that you spend even more $$$ for the next
new Super-Duper update.

In almost any case, malware crap that you catch when sandboxed goes
bye-bye with a reboot. The crap that will get through your sandbox is
rare. The crap which can get through those other 'security' measures
is common.

Support OS:WinXP/Win2003/Vista/Win7/Win8/Win10(32/64bit)

http://toolwiz.com/lead/toolwiz_time_freeze/

Full disk encryption is a pain in the arse. The average lunkhead such
as myself doesn't have a clue about the subject - even after reading
some dissertation or other. So, if you ain't a spy, pedophile or
criminal, you really don't need that measure of security. If you do
need some measure of security for private material, a TrueCrypt volume
is simple as hell to create and use. That will hide your stuff which
ain't the business of the rest of the world. Just make sure you use
Disk Investigator to check your C: drive a few times every week.
Windows has a way of catching passwords and hiding them in somewhere
on your C: drive. If a password, or a word from a passphrase is
sought with the freebie Disk Investigator, it'll find it - and you
better damn well use a multiword passphrase, or one heck of a strong
password. Numbers, upper/lower case letters and misspelled words will
do fine.

Example: WatThheFckUwantMy2,300wordPasswordfer?
Phrase: Wat Thhe Fck U want My 2,300 word Passphrase fer?

I'm almost ninety, and even I can remember such a simple, clear fk'd
up password/phrase such as that. Let 'em try using a 'dictionary'
attack on that one.

Use Diceware for choosing a passphrase if you like.

https://theworld.com/~reinhold/diceware.html

- End -

(All tech smarties please note that this post is simply for the 'great
unwashed' - ignorant lunkheads like myself who might need some simple
help. I would have posted to some proper 'security' group except all
those are filled to the brim with Trump/Biden/Political shite, and
almost all posts are x-posted to groups such as alt.usenet.kooks.

Clear enuf?)
