Cheshire Bridge Road

Early Sunday morning walking with you
on Cheshire Bridge Road
passing sound of radio.
Gee, I think it'd be nice
to have a couple of cups of coffee with you
and watch morning come.

Walking on Cheshire Bridge Road
early Sunday morning with you
barefoot in the dew.
Sunlight burns away until the fog is gone
and brings in the dawn.

Every time I see your face
it reminds me of music.
Every time I see your face
across that bar.

Early Sunday morning walking with you
down Cheshire Bridge Road
passing sound of radio.
Still would like to have
a couple of cups of coffee with you
and watch morning come.

-Will Dockery

On topic, this is the story of the day I met Tina in Summer 1981.

HTH and HAND.

Were you living in the boarding house at this time, or La Maison?

I was living at La Maison, a block away from Cheshire Bridge Road, and had been there for a couple of weeks.

More of the back story that hasn't been written about yet is that my original room mate at La Maison was supposed to be Clifford Oliver, who worked with me at the lumber yard warehouse.

This was how I decided I could afford to leave the boarding house for the vastly more expensive apartment, as the boarding house room was about $25 a week and the apartment was $365 a month.

Clifford, who lived nearby with his mother, almost immediately backed out of the deal, after I'd already paid for a month's rent /and/ deposit.

I met Tina around that time, as the poem describes.

They've claimed their major source was Will's "autobiography" on Penny's Poetry Pages -- not the present version, but "earlier versions" which Will is supposed to have rewritten and then deleted (but they claimed to remember). Yet, the earlier versions all still exist, and they don't back any of those claims. Once again, they're honest enough about their memories, but they don't actually remember what their sources said. Michael remembered what he imagined, and Jim remembered what Michael told him.

Good exploration of the "pretty colors" meme, George.

At the time, the lumber yard was where I worked every day.

At night I went home to Sherwood Road, where I was living at the time.

Or, to put it n a nicer way, Michael Pendragon was mistaken.

No, that never happened, Pendragon.

> Michael Pendragon: "In the wiki bio, it seems like you were only living with T, and went straight from squatting in an apartment with her to squatting at a lumber yard alone..."

Except that it didn't happen that way.

> Okay, that was off, and I'll need to change/clarify that.

Since no such statement exists, nothing needed changing.

Again, in other words, Michael Pendragon was mistaken.

> In one of his early drafts, Will had either directly stated, or made it appear as if such were the case, that he'd gone "straight from squatting in an apartment (La Maison) with [Kathy] to squatting at a lumber yard alone.

No, that didn't happen, and I haven't seen any of my writings that state anything like that.

In other words, Michael Pendragon is mistaken.

> Based on the "off" information discussed above, the "pretty colors" story (the night of Kathy's disappearance) would have been set in the lumber yard

No, again, I was not crashing at the lumber yard at that time. I was working at the lumber yard during the day and coming home to Sherwood Road at night, living there with my wife and son.

HTH and HAND.

* Spring 1981:

* Summer/Fall 1981:

* Winter 1981-1982:

And so it goes.
